Meditation Isn't As Hard As You Might Think!

It's all about you! Find out about Love, Career, and Money.... Get a Psychic Reading now... www.thepsychiccompany.co.uk/

"I Can't Meditate!" is something I hear on a regular basis. So many people I get speaking to think that meditation is difficult. They believe they can't meditate, or can't 'switch off'.

It seems that meditation has been made into a bit of an enigma or something special that you can only do if you're an enlightened or highly spiritual being. That's simply not true.

Have you ever had a moment of inspiration when you least expect it? Perhaps while you were doing the washing up, in the shower, (on the loo!), driving the car, or reading a book? That's because you had entered into a meditative state, quite without realising it.

In terms of spiritual and psychic development, I always encourage meditation for absolute beginners. Why would I do this if it was difficult? Because far from being for the enlightened, it is actually a very simple tool that will encourage your spiritual growth and psychic development. It's also great to help you gain some energy and perspective if you have a busy lifestyle.

And in fact, meditation is so simple!

Meditation is basically anything that allows you to switch away from your conscious, analytical, everyday awareness. It slows your brainwaves down and allows you to really relax and re-connect with the subconscious, intuitive part of your brain. That is why you get moments of inspiration when you are least expecting them.

Meditation doesn't have to be you sat cross-legged, dressed in white, chanting 'ohm'. It can be if you want it to. Tai chi or yoga is a form of meditation, even vacuuming the house or mowing the lawn could be meditative for you. Anyone with a brain, is capable of entering into a meditative state. It's what we do when we fall asleep.

Here's a simple meditation for you to practise. (Give yourself 5 or 10 minutes of uninterrupted time.)

Sit comfortably and close your eyes.
Take a deep breath in (preferably through your nose)
And slowly breathe out (again through your nose if you can)
Continue to breathe but counting with the breath:
In - 2 - 3 - 4
Hold
Out - 2 - 3 - 4
Hold and repeat for 5 - 10 minutes.
If at any time your mind wanders, starting counting your breath again.
Sitting quietly, focussing on your breathing like this or listening to a meditation CD or guided visualisation will give you all the benefits that meditation brings. And while you may find it hard to relax at first, continue to do it on a regular basis and you will soon find that it gets easier.

Love And Light

Can You See The Bigger Picture?

It's all about you! Find out about Love, Career, and Money.... Get a Psychic Reading now... www.thepsychiccompany.co.uk/

Do you get stressed out easily by life? Baffled by the actions of others (which I admit can often be bewildering)? Caught up in life's dramas? Do you wish you could be more calm when things seem to go wrong?

Or maybe you are calm and see others running round like mad and you don't quite grasp why they don't 'get' things in the same way that you do?

It's all about whether you can see, understand, and accept the connections, that things happen for a reason - as part of a bigger picture.

I have often wondered why it is that some people see connections in life, between events and people, and others just don't. Have you ever noticed that? It's not always easy but when 'stuff' happens in life, some people focus in on the detail of it, and often allow themselves to become a victim of it. While others are able to stand back, a little more detached, and be less affected by it somehow. If you have ever been able to do this to any extent you may have noticed that others often look at you like you're mad because you are able to seemingly 'see' reason behind it that they can't. Previously I have thought that my interpretation and understanding of events within a bigger picture was because I had a more philosophical or spiritual approach to life. In the past I have heard those who are unable to see this reasoning described as 'new souls', inferring that they had a lot to learn on their 'spiritual' journey. But I don't think that is the whole story. I found this quote today from Deepak Chopra, and it started me thinking.

"When you expand your awareness, seemingly random events will be seen to fit into a larger purpose."

Many people that I know who have a sense of this 'bigger picture' aren't necessarily particularly spiritual, or philosophical, but what they all have in common is an open, expanded, and expanding mind. They seek knowledge, they seek personal development, and they seek success - by their own definition. They have expanded their awareness, of themselves and as a result, of others.

They also have an open, expanded, and expanding heart. This may seem odd, but they do. They LOVE seeing others develop, succeed and learn new things, almost as much as they enjoy doing it themselves. When they are part of that process for and with someone else they love it even more. Their heart AND their minds go out to others. Because they understand that we are all part of the bigger picture.

Once you start to expand your awareness you start to think differently, you start to see the results of cause and effect, you begin to understand how things slot together. And whilst it's not always immediately obvious why a certain event has happened, you have an inner ability to accept that there must be a reason and that it will eventually come to light.

People who are able to see the bigger picture are less stressed, more laid back, accepting of others, non-judgemental and really interesting to talk to.

Love And Light

Simple Psychic Development Exercise

It's all about you! Find out about Love, Career, and Money.... Get a Psychic Reading now... www.thepsychiccompany.co.uk/

When you're psychic or highly intuitive you pick up information from people, things, auras, or places around you. Essentially you are sensing an energy. When I talk about energy in this way I am referring to the vibration or aura that is given off by a person, place, or thing. Part of the problem of developing your psychic abilities is understanding what you are picking up and translating it into something that is relevant and meaningful. To do this you need to understand what signs, symbols and sensations mean to you personally.

All forms of psychic ability are about understanding and translating energy. Here is a simple exercise that will help you in doing this - it works well if working with others but it's quite possible to adapt it so that you can do it on your own.

You will need some pieces of fabric, preferably of a similar size and texture but all in different colours. You could buy a piece of fabric or ribbons in each colour from a market stall or sewing shop, or find a selection of scarves or pashminas. You could try this with coloured paper or card but I prefer fabric. I have a selection of pashminas for workshops and these work very well as they can be draped around your shoulders, on your lap, or held in your hands.

The basic colour suggestions would be: red, green, blue, yellow, white.

If you can, add black, pink, orange, and purple.

If you want to go all out, see if you can find a silver and gold metallic or shimmery looking fabric.

It's a good idea to have a pen and paper handy, or if you're working on your own you could record your findings verbally using a recording device or app.

Place all the fabric pieces in a big pile and jumble them up.

Sit comfortably and close your eyes. You could do a visualisation to open your energy field if you know how to do this. It will encourage your sensitivity.

If you're working with a friend get them to pull out one piece of fabric and place it in your hands or over your shoulders.

Take your awareness to the fabric and to the air around your body. Tell your friend about any changes, feelings or thoughts, words or images that come into your head. They should make a note of what you say and record the colour of the fabric. When you've finished tell them what you think the colour might be (it really doesn't matter if you get it wrong). Your friend should not tell you whether you are right or wrong.

Without opening your eyes and discovering what colour you have been working with, change to another piece of fabric and repeat this exercise until you've worked with four or five of them.

If you are working on your own you will have to look at the fabric you are holding and record the actual colour as you go along.

Once you've completed this exercise take a look at your notes. The idea of this exercise is two-fold,

to extend and improve your level of awareness
to understand what each colour means to you
What did you pick up intuitively when you didn't know what colour you were working with? Did you get the colour right? Very often people surprise themselves with their accuracy when they 'guess' what the colour is. How do you pick things up - images, feelings, or smells? All are valid methods, this is an exercise to get you practising and finding out how your psychic side works and communicates with you. Have fun with it and do it on a fairly regular basis so that you can see how you improve.

Love And Light

Best Tips If You Are Looking For A Psychic!..

It's all about you! Find out about Love, Career, and Money.... Get a Psychic Reading now... www.thepsychiccompany.co.uk/

If you're thinking about having a psychic reading, or a visit to a medium, tarot card reader or similar it is always good to know why you want to see them before you go along. If you know what you would like to achieve from the experience then you can decide who you should be seeing and whether it was worth it. There a number of reasons for seeking readings, it might be:

that you seek reassurance after the passing of a loved one,
because you are intrigued by someone being able to 'tell your future',
to help you ascertain whether you are on the right life path
perhaps to help explain some strange things that are going on around you.
you might be looking for some clarity about their current situation
or perhaps your friend is going so you're just tagging along to see what it's all about.
It is also important to consider the following points:

Contacting loved ones that have passed: No medium can guarantee that they will be able to contact the person that you wish them to.

A psychic isn't always the same as a medium: A psychic can read for you in different ways, they will tap into your energy, your aura, and pick things up about your past, present, and potential future but may not be able to communicate with a deceased love one.

Not all tarot card readers are equal: Some are very capable at reading the tarot cards, some combine it with being psychic and / or a medium.

In all instances it is best to go by recommendation. Ask a friend or family member if you can, or find a local 'new age' shop or holistic centre and ask if there is anyone that they would suggest. You can also go along to a local spiritualist church (if you're in the UK - I don't know if they're the same elsewhere) as they often hold open evenings, and you'll be able to talk to some of the regulars and find out who would be best to get in touch with in the local area. When you book an appointment try to speak with the person on the phone first and gauge your intuitive response. It is important that you feel comfortable with the person who is reading for you.

Should I Have A Reading From A Psychic Or Medium?

If you wish to make contact with a loved one in spirit or have unusual phenomena going on around you, a loved one, or in your home, then you should consult a reputable medium.

If you're looking for life guidance, in many ways visiting a psychic or reader is very similar to seeing a life coach or counsellor but with access to an extra level of information. They can really help to give clarity about where you are and how you got there and what potential there is for you in the future. But it must be remembered that your future isn't cast in stone. There are always changes that you can make, even seemingly small ones that can alter your life course, so if you don't like the one you're on, you can do something about it. A good reader may be able to give you an idea of some avenues that are available to you, or some indication of the choices that lie ahead, but you are the one that must choose and then take action.

My Personal Thoughts On Whether You Need To See A Psychic Or Tarot Reader

Visiting a reader, especially on a regular basis is not a solution to your current life challenges. Please don't constantly run to them for anything and everything. Self-awareness is the key, know when you need to ask for a bit of help or guidance, but be prepared to take the reins once you have had it and implement any changes that you can control to help get you on the right path.

A common enquiry that I get is from those who wish to have a reading to help them find peace. I have to say that it's not really as simple as going for a reading and being handed a little box of 'peace'. It all depends on what is causing you lack of 'peace'.

A medium may be able to pass on a message from loved ones that have crossed, and set your mind at rest that they are safe and not in pain, or perhaps they can give evidence to show that they are around and looking out for you, perhaps this will help you to feel more peaceful. However, if your lack of personal peace is about more than the loss of a particular person from your life this is unlikely to be able to help fully.

What Is Healing And Can Anybody Do It?

It's all about you! Find out about Love, Career, and Money.... Get a Psychic Reading now... www.thepsychiccompany.co.uk/

Personally I believe that all forms of healing are essentially the same, (although they may be taught in different ways). I also believe that we are all capable of providing healing energy for ourselves and others. Whether the recipient takes it on board is another matter and the subject of a potentially lengthy debate.

I believe that healing can be as simple as holding the hand of a loved one, wishing for them to get better or sending a text to let them know that you are thinking of them. Let's face it a 'get well soon' card is only a piece of paper until you take the time to write a message and send it to a loved one. Then it has an energy, it brings a smile, cheers them up, brightens their day, and that is very powerful.

Healing in a more defined way is about sending universal energy (or perhaps love) to another with the intention that they get well or feel better. This could be in the form of a prayer, or any one of hundreds of healing methods from around the world. Healing can be sent out for a physical condition, state of mind or simply to help get someone through a difficult patch.

Does healing work? It is very important to say that no healer can make a claim on being able to diagnose, treat or cure a medical condition. It is also important to make the distinction between healing and curing. However, many people do report that they feel better, or get better more quickly after they have received either 'Hands-On' or 'Distance Healing' including myself and a lot of close friends.

Having been part of a circle that regularly sends healing, I know many powerful stories that have been told to us following a healing session. Maybe it's a placebo, maybe it's psychological, maybe it's even a coincidence (if you believe in them). I don't really care how people come to feel better, recover quicker, have unusually positive reactions and test results as in some of the stories I have heard, the important thing is that something positive happened.

Below is an excerpt from 'The Field' by Lynne McTaggart which details of the result of a study into the effects of healing.

"The results were inescapable. No matter which type of healing they used, no matter what their view of a higher being, the healers were dramatically contributing to the physical and psychological well-being of their patients." (F. Sicher and E. Targ et al., 'A randomized double-blind study of the effect of distant healing in a population with advanced AIDS: report of a small scale study', Western Journal of Medicine, 1998; 168(6) 356-63)

Can Anyone Do Healing? Yes - all you need is the intention for another to feel better. You will find all sorts of courses and workshops around the country to help you develop your skills and knowledge.

I personally love the system that is named reiki, it gives a framework for people to learn about healing energy and consciously be able to channel it. I know that I can teach anyone to provide healing, but you don't always need to go on a course or to have a certificate, you may find that you're quite the natural and channelling the healing energy. Learning with others however, can give you confidence, experience, knowledge, and it's great fun. Plus if you want to offer your services alongside other therapies you will need some sort of training and certification for insurance purposes.
